💬 Johnny's Take

What I Would Do This Week

If I were looking at my own electric bill today, here's exactly how I'd decide what to do:

🟢 My current supply rate is LOWER than my utility's Standard Service rate.

I'd stay right where I am.

You're already paying less than the utility, so there's no reason to switch just because another offer exists.

🟡 My current supply rate is HIGHER than my utility's Standard Service rate.

I'd make a change.

At a minimum, I'd switch back to my utility's Standard Service. Then I'd compare it to this week's lowest fixed-rate offer to see if there's an even better option.

🔵 I'm currently on my utility's Standard Service rate.

I'd compare it to this week's best fixed-rate offer.

This week:

  • Eversource: 11.57¢/kWh vs. Major Energy: 11.19¢/kWh

  • UI: 11.94¢/kWh vs. Major Energy: 10.99¢/kWh

The savings aren't life-changing, but they can add up over the course of a year. Before switching, I'd always review the contract length, renewal terms, and any early cancellation fees.

My Bottom Line

❝

Don't automatically renew.

Don't automatically switch.

Review your options and make the decision that's best for your situation.
